Some of the older antiretroviral medicines were associated with loss of subcutaneous fat from the face – particularly the cheeks often leading to a haggard appearance. This condition can be treated with synthetic ‘fillers’ which are widely used in cosmetic surgery.
At the Wolverton we provide treatment for this using ‘Newfill’ (polylactic acid). It is a safe method that works by stimulating your body’s own collagen.
If treatment is required, your HIV specialist doctor can refer you.
