CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

IMPORTANT INFORMATION – PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND THE WOLVERTON CENTRE UNLESS YOU HAVE TELEPHONED FIRST

Following national guidance about sensible steps that Kingston Hospital and other health services should be taking to limit the spread of Coronavirus, we are trying to reduce the number of patients attending the Hospital where appropriate.  We will therefore be altering our walk-in services and booking processes.

Before attending ANY HEALTH SERVICE everyone should confirm they do not require self-isolation by visiting the Government’s response to Coronavirus

Please read the information below and act accordingly – DO NOT ATTEND THE CENTRE UNLESS YOU HAVE TELEPHONED FIRST.

  • If you have attended our Centre for a test in the last 2 weeks please be aware results are currently taking longer than normal. Results may take 2 weeks or more to become available. You will be contacted when the results are available – you do not need to call for your results.
  • If you have a booked appointment coming up we will contact you if any changes need to be made.
  • If you do not have a booked appointment please read the information below and follow the advice specific to your needs. If you are advised to call the service please be aware that we may be receiving a high volume of calls.
  • If you have no symptoms but wish to take a test for sexually transmitted infections please use one of the links to the services below:
  • If you require contraception:     If you require an appointment for an Implant or Coil (IUD/IUS) we suggest you use condoms or use another hormonal method – please call to discuss.
  • Please visit sexwise website for information on all contraceptive methods.  If you still have a query please call to discuss.
  • If you require a hormonal method we suggest asking your GP for a prescription or getting it online: These are some online pharmacies:
  • If you have an appointment booked for an Implant or Coil (IUD/IUS) we will contact you if changes need to be made.
  • If you have symptoms that you recognise as Thrush (candida) or Bacterial Vaginosis please consider attending a pharmacy for home treatment. If you have used home treatment and symptoms persist or worsen please call for advice.
  • If you have symptoms that you recognise as a previous diagnosis of Herpes please read the BASHH advice page  and manage at home. If you have used home treatment and symptoms persist or worsen please call for advice.
  • If you require treatment for a sexually transmitted infection diagnosed by The Wolverton or another service please call for advice.

  • If you require a pregnancy test please buy a test and follow the instructions. If you are pregnant and have symptoms or concerns please call the clinic for advice.
  • If you are a participant on the PrEP IMPACT trial and you have a routine appointment booked please attend your appointment as scheduled; if the clinic needs to make any changes we will contact. If you do not have a booked appointment but need to discuss the trial please call the PrEP team 07775406943.
  • If you usually attend the CONNECT clinic please call for advice.
  • If you have other symptoms / concerns / require advice not listed above please call for advice.
