Diaphragm/cap with spermicide

You put a diaphragm together with spermicide into your vagina before sexual intercourse.  It is a barrier to sperm, but is is not the most reliable method of contraception.  However, it does suit some women at some stages of life.

You can increase the reliability by using condoms at the same time.  You need to speak to a doctor or nurse about this method as you will need to be fitted with a diaphragm of the correct size and learn how to fit it yourself.  You need to come back for a second appointment to check you are fitting it correctly.
